Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
In short
PuzzleRack keeps everything you enter on your own phone. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us. We cannot see your catalogue. Only if you switch on looking up puzzle details does the app contact MySpeedPuzzling, and then only with what you look up, when you tap for it.
Who is responsible
PuzzleRack is published by Adrian Overdijk under the name Apps With Manners. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@appswithmanners.com.
What the app keeps, and where
PuzzleRack keeps what you enter or choose yourself:
- the details of your puzzles, such as title, brand, series, piece count, barcode, price, rating, difficulty, puzzle time and notes
- the photos you take or choose
- your settings, such as colour, light or dark and the layout of the list
All of this is kept only on your phone, in the app's own storage, which other apps cannot reach. When the app reads the text on a box, that also happens on your phone itself; the photo goes nowhere.
What the app does not do
- The app does not ask for an account, a name or an email address.
- The app contains no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
- The app does not send your catalogue or photos anywhere, and does not share or sell data. We have no data to share.
- The app is excluded from Android's automatic backup. Your catalogue is not copied to a cloud account unless you do so yourself.
Looking up puzzle details (optional)
The app can look up the details of a puzzle at MySpeedPuzzling, a puzzle database that is not ours. This is off until you switch it on in Settings, under Look up puzzle details. Even then the app only looks something up when you tap the lookup button in a puzzle's form.
What goes to MySpeedPuzzling with a lookup:
- what you look up: the barcode, the item number or the title from the form. If the barcode finds nothing, the app tries the item number and then the title, so more than one of these can go along;
- your IP address, as with any connection to a website;
- the name and version of the app, such as "PuzzleRack/0.8.0". Not your phone model, your Android version, an account or anything else from your catalogue.
The box images of the puzzles found are fetched from MySpeedPuzzling too. They stay in the app's temporary storage while you choose; an image you take over is kept with your photos on your phone.
MySpeedPuzzling has told us that it keeps these details in its access logs on its own server, uses them only to run and secure its service, does not sell or share them, does not use them for profiles, and deletes them after 30 days. The app gets an answer from MySpeedPuzzling, but we receive nothing ourselves: lookups go straight from your phone to MySpeedPuzzling. Their own privacy policy also applies.
Switch it off again in Settings, and the app no longer contacts anyone.
Permissions
- Camera: for photos of the box and for scanning barcodes. The app asks for it the first time you use the camera.
- Notifications: for a notification with a pause button while a puzzle timer runs. The app asks for it the first time you start a timer.
- Starting after your phone restarts: so that the notification of a running timer comes back after a restart.
- Internet: only for looking up puzzle details at MySpeedPuzzling, when you have switched it on and tap for it. Android does not ask you for this permission; the app's own setting is off until you switch it on.
Choosing a picture from your phone goes through Android's photo picker. The app only sees the pictures you choose there.
Backup, sharing and printing
- A backup is one file with all your puzzles, photos and times, which you save where you choose. The file is not protected: whoever gets hold of it can see your catalogue.
- When sharing, you choose the app that sends the photos and details of a puzzle.
- Printing your wishlist goes through Android's print function.
Once something is outside the app, for example with a cloud storage service or in another app, the terms and privacy policy of that service or app apply to it.
Deleting your data
Deleting a puzzle in the app also deletes its photos. Removing the app from your phone erases everything. Backups you saved yourself are not removed this way; you delete those where you saved them.
